Chinese: 飞扬
Pinyin: Fēi Yáng
On the posterior border of fibula, about 1 cun inferior and lateral to Chengshan BL-57, 7 cun directly above Kunlun BL-60.
First locate Chengshan BL-57 in the center of the calf, in the middle of Weizhong BL-40 and Kunlun BL-60, between the two bellies of the gastrocnemius muscle.
From there, locate Feiyang BL-58 by palpating 1 cun in a distal direction and 1 cun in a lateral direction.
Vertically or obliquely 1–1.5 cun.
Feiyang BL-58 is the Connecting-Luo point of the Bladder Channel and it communicates to the Kidneys. When combined with Taixi KI-3, it strongly strengthens the Kidneys. Thus it treats symptoms such as lower back pain, tinnitus and dizziness.
It also subdues excessive Rebellious Qi in the head due to Liver Yang Rising and Kidney Deficiency. Typical manifestations include headache, dizziness, neck pain, occipital headache and nosebleed.
Furthermore, it removes obstructions from the Channel, thus it treats lower back pain, sciatica, leg atrophy as well as the difficulties to stand.
Finally, the Bladder Channel passes the anus, so BL-58 is often used as a distal point to treat haemorrhoids.
